I agree with you. There are many who are not Yoko fans.
Exactly right. Me, for one. And I'd be willing to bet that group
includes some of the other people who choose to defend her against
your monotonous malice.
I am not malicious . . . just telling the truth.
No, you selectively quote people in such a way as to support your
view, while ignoring other quotes from the *same* people that don't
support it. That's not the truth, hon.
Even if what you say is true, how can you ignore Yoko's own admissions
both while John was alive and after he died ? She admitted she was
tired of being Mrs. Lennon, she admitted she threw JOhn out of the
house for 18 months, blaming him for her failed career, she's admitted
to being a workaholic, she's admitted to sending him away repeatedly,
she admitted she did not want to be with him when he was alive, she
admitted to wanting to have an abortion when pregnant with Sean, she
admitted to telling John she would have the baby only if John took
care of the child, etc.
She admitted...blah blah. Their marriage had issues. That's a
legitimate reason for hate?
I've also read an interview or two where Yoko admitted that she was
selfish and also said something to the effect that John taught her to
love someone other than herself.
Do you hate all people who admit that they have selfish aspects to their
personality, or do you just save it for this special one?
She has also repeatedly spoken dismissively of the Beatles as a group
and the other Beatles.
She wasn't into pop/rock music. So what? That's a legitimate reason
for hate?
There is also no question she sat in on their recordings whether
they wanted her there are not, bringing a bed into the studio
and holding court. How disrespectful.
Doesn't seem like it bothered the other three that much. We've been
down this road before. It would bother me in a similar situation, but I
would (and have, in the past) say something. They apparently didn't.
So whose fault is that?
When Mike Wallace asked her on national TV what was it like to be in
the recording studio, I guess he expected an answer from an excited
Beatles fan.
Well if that's true he would be extremely naive. She's a spouse, not a
groupie. Do you think Ringo's wife Barbara goes ga-ga over The Beatles?
I forget Yoko's exact words (I can look it up) but she
essentially said "confining." Wallace responded, "Really!!??" Even
Mike Wallace was incredulous.
So what? That's a reason to hate?
When John was alive, Yoko repeatedly acted as if the Beatles were not
that important or not othat accomplished or not that big a deal or
hardly known to her.
In her world they weren't. I'm sure you'd find the same reaction among
other avant-garde artists and composers. They're in another world. Pop
culture doesn't intersect it very much. Anyway, I don't think it's a
killing offense.
I don't understand how anyone can be a Beatles fan and admire Yoko at
the same time if they know many of the things she's said and done. I
know people do, but it just does not make sense to me.
I don't know about you, but I don't restrict my treating of other human
beings decently to only those I admire. And I don't begrudge those who
*do* admire her. Actually I admire her humanitarian efforts. The art
and music? Meh. But so what, it doesn't give me a right to treat her
like dirt.
