I was once at a British Interplanetary Society meeting where Apollo 11
astronaut Buzz Aldrin was the special guest, and he was taking part in a
question-and-answer session. You could tell by his body language at the
start that he was all set to hear the same old same old being trotted out
(e.g. "so what was it really like on the Moon, Buzz?" - thankfully that
one
wasn't asked :-), but someone asked "Buzz, do you think there is any
question about your moon mission that you haven't been asked?", to which
the great man answered cheerfully, "Nope! I don't think so!"
I have a book that recounts the time when Buzz Aldrin punched out a moon
landing denier who confronted him in the street. Poor fellow actually
thought it was a good idea to ask Buzz Aldrin, the 2nd man on the moon, why
he was participating in the conspiracy to convince the people of the world
that the USA had landed men on the moon. Aldrin rightly dealt him a knock
down blow to the head. I expect a law suit ensued followed by a settlement
or something since that's the way it's done these days but I bet Aldrin felt
it was worth it at any price.
At least Ringo hasn't punched anyone out for asking him the same old
questions over and over. Not yet anyway.
Anyone here think the moon landings were fakes? I've always thought that
given how well people keep secrets (not) it would have been harder to fake
the landings and cover it up than to actually do the landing. Of course if
Beatlecorp could cover up Paul's death in the sixties for this long I
suppose anyting is possible!
