Why are you going along with this crap, Rich?

Going along with what crap?  I'm simply relaying truth.  Some points to
consider:
1.  I made no statements about exactly *who* is doing the rating

Go back and read it.  You spoke of "that crowd" in reply to PR's post
where he used the term "rmb housewives".

2.  The people whose names were mentioned *are* rated lower than (or at best
equal to) IBen
3.  The ratings are a popularity contest among certain posters here and have
*no* relation whatsoever with the content of the respective posts.  The
whole concept (as tenuous as it is to begin with) has been perverted into a
scenario where a subgroup of posters are flexing their muscles.

Note, I don't necessarily agree with PR's assessment of *who* does these
ratings.  I don't believe you're involved; yet I wonder why you're so
concerned with it.

You wonder why?  Go back and see how many times PR has accused me of
this.  I was gone for a week and then found these posts of his.  It made
me wonder why the hell I even came back here to read the newsgroup.  I
just log on to relax and quietly read about the Beatles and see what
people are saying.  I should just delete all of PR's posts without
opening a single one.  His desperate need to insult people turns my
stomach.  That's not why I come here.

It's a silly little schoolyard game, and in my opinion
anyone with an ounce of sense could see through it.

I agree, except that maybe this is how people express their frustration
with what's going on.  When I do go into Google to see what all the fuss
is about, I see the ratings coming from both sides, not just one.  And
among several posters, too.  I guess it's the way that people here
express their opinions without getting involved.  If people would just
stop insulting everybody, and respect each other's rights to their own
musical or Beatle-related opinions, then these cybergang wars would not
be taking place.  But instead, we have people who constantly get beat up
and others who call each other names and don't have a problem telling
someone to use deoderant and mouthwash... and worse, to hang
themselves.  Nice, right?  No wonder the stars fly around here.

Standing ovation!!

Frankly, the stars are the least of it. What about the "fuck you's"
"cunts" ethnic slurs, threats of physical harm, etc, etc.?
Many people stand silent as long as the target is not THEM.
This place would be a lot nicer if people just respected each other,
but there's a certain small group who just don't . . . . . and then a
number of people who repeatedly ignore the nastiness of others and,
indeed, cozy up to the bullies.
