but again, we deal in misinformation. Burn in will not be an issue on an
LCD screen, nor on a CRT, if you are not watching 4X3 all the time on
the CRT. It is less of an issue than before with plasma screens, but I
understand there is still a "break in period."
I have an LCD-HDTV. I had to put it in *stretch* mode because some of the
stations in my neck of the woods still broadcast in 4:3. After having the
TV for a short time, I began to notice a line on the right side of my
picture when viewing widescreen films...I put it in *stretch*, and the
line, soon after, disappeared.
What brand is that?? It's one I'll surely want to avoid. LCDs should not
burn in!! Are you 100% sure it's not plasma?

The vertical matting needs to be there.
16x9 is a *** Hi Def ratio only. It has no bearing on theatrical film
formatting.
Yes, 16X9 is a compromise.
