Brilliant stuff. Reminds me of this fantasy film script I've had
floating round my head for a year or two about a similar sort of "what
if". I think our imaginations would differ over some details - but
well done for putting into print what I had dreamed.
Thanks JohnB, Stephen X. Carter & marcus. I'm glad you liked it. Now I
feel like Sally Field after she won an Oscar. "You like me! You really
like me!". It's a nice squishy feeling.
There's certainly lots of what ifs that could have been that would make good
scripts. The best scenario of course would have been if the devil's best
friend hadn't shot John at all. I've read somewhere that he was thinking
about shooting David Bowie instead if he couldn't get John that night.
Bowie was in NYC playing the Elephant Man on stage. I like Bowie too so my
best case would be for the fool to use his first bullet on himself instead
of blaming his own failings on someone else.
My little fiction was sort of inspired by Geldof's account in an article I
read recently about how he managed to get Pink Floyd together for Live 8.
It just made me think that if anyone could have got The Beatles together on
stage again Geldof could have. Apparently he is a little hard to say no to.
Then when I wrote it I decided to make it Paul's idea instead so there you
go.
Too bad we could not have had The Beatles reunite for Live Aid. Still, it
was neat having Paul with U2 for Live 8.

I've had many dreams about a reunion concert since Lennon's
death...none as vivid and detailed as your story of course. Your
reunion was a great piece of writing...I appreciate the effort that
went into it.
Thanks again
