I agree about bad singing, but there's nothing dubious about her art.
She's still one of the well-known conceptual artists whether you like
conceptual art or not.

I've seen it and it doesn't exhibit any artistic skill or talent.
It's just not art.

I've seen her exhibition in an art museum and it was just as artsy as any other contemporary art is.

If you really knew anything about art, and had spent any time around artists, you would realize that the word "artsy" is a perjorative.

dmh

I know, but then again I'm not a fan of her art (or music). Hopefully *my* ignorance of visual arts does not dispossess Yoko of her conceptual artist status.

http://www.askoxford.com/asktheexperts/faq/aboutspelling/perjorative:

Why can't I find the word 'perjorative' in my dictionary?

Because it is spelled pejorative. This word does not contain the prefix per-, but is derived from the Latin word peior or pejor meaning 'worse'.

That was a direct quote from the page that the URL was referring to.

In other words, you didn't know what "pejorative" meant...until now??

And here you are commenting with an air of authority on an "artsy"
exhibition by Yoke-O.

Wow, now I've been finally taken as an authority. Would you shut up if I told you so? :-D I just found it funny that someone is criticizing me for using a word with another word that he cannot spell or misspelled. I thought that the Oxford Dictionary would be a greater authority for you to believe in than me correcting your grammar errors.

Are we having some kind of a literature competition going on here as well as a ridiculing competition? Or have we just come to the point were we must dig into unessentials to make a point?
