What the heck, I'll give it a shot. It's sort of like a sense that
is
beyond the physical five. It's a "knowing". There are different
levels
of knowing... people further along the path... others stopping to
explore the various sights along the way. Nevertheless, the sense
has
been awakened. I believe that the advice, "Seek and Ye Shall Find"
will
help you along. However, if you're searching for spiritual logic
exclusively within the physical realm, you may have a hard time
finding
it.

- Donna (...if you open up your heart, you'll know what I mean...)

So some folks will get it and some won't... and the ones that won't
will go to hell. WHY? Not their fault.

I don't believe she said anything of the sort.

You are very perceptive... she DID NOT post that ... I did.

That is correct. As you must be perceptive enough to grasp there are
many different dogmas you are asking her ( or so I assumed) about one she
is not espousing. I think it's ridiculous. Either you believe or you
don't. if you don't, fine. I don't particularly subscribe to hers or
anyone else's religion either.

My point being, how does one know which dogma is true if there are many
dogmas. How does one KNOW?

She was simply saying she knew, or felt, that the collection of beliefs she
has absorbed over the years is valid for HER. She did not say you or anyone
would burn in hell fires if you did not believe her theology.

You're asking her to answer a question that is as old as time, and that was
MY point. Unfair to burden her with your disbelief.

But people who insist on their atheism/agnosticism are just as much a
bore as preachers from the other side.

I "insist" nothing... I am having a discussion.

No you are not.

Some religious teachings state that if you do not follow the dogma, you
go to Hell. Donna implied that understanding the 'Truth' is a "knowing".
What if an unfortunate like myself does not receive the "knowing"? I am
doomed to the pits of Hell according to the dogma.

According to one dogma, not hers. Try and focus.

Having read Donna's posts, I know she is 'christian'... The 'christian'
dogma teaches there is a heaven and hell...God above, Satan below...it's
VERY simple. I am aware there are MANY 'christian' denominations...which
one is "True"?

Then read closer. She also subscribes to various Indian aspects
(reincarnation, etc.). You are putting her into boxes that only -you- are
creating, not she. Again, you are not discussing. You are accusing.

How does one know when they have received the "knowing"?

They know. How hard is this?

...not 'DO' they know... 'HOW' do they know... ;^) Does a 'bell'
ring...do 'voices' speak...do 'halos' show up around the chosen ones???

I have it on good authority that one "chooses" to believe, or 'have
faith'. I believe in fairies...how much respect do you think I get? I
mean...I even have a photo of one *I TOOK* if you care to see it...and if
you DON'T see the fairy, you have NO faith...let the "chips" fall where
they may!

'Knowing' is a feeling. It is not a logical absolute. Does it mean they
have all the secrets of the universe? Hell no. Bush believes in what he
thinks is right, and I heartily disagree. In fact, he'll be seen in hell
before I ever am.

If I put my hand in fire, I KNOW it hurts...if I fall, I Know I will hit
the ground...if I don't breathe, I know I will die. There is a connection
between facts and knowing. Where are the 'facts' in believing?

The fact that a person like you cannot simply understand something other
than facts because you won't let yourself. Why are you trying to make
others think the way you do? That is what you accuse the religious of
doing!

I have been a searcher and a seeker my entire life.
It is also implied that MY heart is NOT open. It is an inquiry...nothing
more.

She implied no such thing.

QUOTE - Donna (...if you open up your heart, you'll know what I mean...)

Lyrics from a George song, dave. jesus.

She was trying to explain what it feels like to HER. YOU are the one
implying things by asking her why you should go to hell. She never said
you would or that that even figures into her beliefs. You're asking her
to defend someone else's ideas. Not nice.

I imply nothing of the sort...and I NEVER asked her to defend anyone
else's beliefs. AND...I AM a very nice person...considerate, respectful,
kind to animals and children...etc. I am not perfect though...I'm working
on that!

Again, you're verring off into all manner of abstract and irrelevant
blather.

Why people who do not believe have such chips on their shoulders I'll
never know, but then I don't much care.

No "chips" here...I am trying to have an 'adult' discussion...that's all.

It's pretty clear that you are not. You are trying to justify your
non-belief by harranguing someone who has professed belief.

So you are a good 'person' in your own estimation (aren't we all?).
