There was quite a lot of "generic" zen floating around in the 60's,
Some "commentators" have viewed her early works (like Grapefruit)
as
having a Zen/Buddhist philosophy or flavor. Centuries ago I
studied
Zen Buddhism and other religions, and of course, I can't recall
most
of
my studies, but one Zen exercise is to "imagine the sound of one
hand
clapping." (this reminds me of some of the exercises in
Grapefruit)
I believe some critics might say that the Yoke's early work was
influenced by Zen/Buddist concepts, although as far as I know, she
herself is not a Buddhist.
at
least
in some of the intellectual/artistic circles. I guess a lot of it
came
out
of Kerouac, what with books like "Dharma Bums" ect.
That is an interesting concept . . . . "generic zen." Sounds like the
title of something like a new rock group or a reality TV show.
Yeah, it could also be the latest infimercial:
Should of course read "infomercial", oh well.........
"Achive enlightenment in 10 easy steps.
Order now, and we'll throw in a membership of The Buddha
Weightwatchers"
;-)
Perhaps you meant to write "infirmercial." :)
Or the catholic version "infernical", or the born-again-christian version
"confirmical, or............
.
