Just goes to show you why they appealed to such a broad audience.

So, just curious, do you prefer the faster (mono) or the slower (stereo) one?

I'll take mono Beatles over stereo Beatles for any song any day (except
for Helter Skelter, simply because it's noticably longer)

If done correctly, stereo is a great thing. It got mucked up in the beginning because it tended to be used as a gimmick. And a not unappreciated gimmick while tripping...

But to really "hear" it work? It "makes" a good live DVD, great. To have a guitar on the right and the bass on the left...where the players are. It makes all the difference.

Yeah, if were writing about a mono recording which was forced to stereo (faked): Was the problem in the original recording or the transformation? We have to be sure if we're talking about the tune or the technique. Not the same as, but similar to colorizing a film. (Or my writing syle)

It's tough to beat a well done stereo recording but I doubt if a great mono can be improved without having the original recored medium. Thus the debate might be less or more than just mono v. stereo. The devil is in the dub.
