What's everyone use for video editing software?
Anyone have experience with Nero? Windows Live Movie Maker? Any
other that can be recommended?
My daughter and her friend decided to make a movie today in which they
play all the parts and I've been enlisted to shoot and edit. I have a
solid background in the fundamentals and principles of both, but no
hands-on editing on a computer in ages.

I use nero vision express to import, edit and then burn to disc or
export. How much editing of kids on video do you really need to do,
other than some cutting and pasting ?

Actually a lot. My daughter's always been curious about the way shows
and movies are cut together, so this is a lesson as well as a fun
project, and her expectations are pretty high. She knows about master
shots and coverage....close-ups and reaction shots, and time lapses
and montages, She actually said to me yesterday when we had forgotten
a key line one shot "It's okay dad, we can just do a pick-up and
insert it, can't we?"
She's really into flashbacks too, so we'll probably have top put one
of those into this as well.
I bought Nero a few years ago but have never used it to edit, just to
rip and burn. I imported our footage into Nero yesterday, and will
probably start trying to figure out how to edit int eh program
tonight. Was just wondering if someone had recommendations for other
programs that they love.
