I wasn't talking about slightly overweight people, I meant obese
people ---- 50 lbs. overwight or more. It would be rare for that to be
caused by metabolism. Very few who are that much overweight eat right and
exercise. They are like heavy smokers, they know damn well that they are
possibly killing themselves. It's a personal choice, just like smoking.
And looking around, I see WAY more obese people than heavy smokers.

Because you can see them. How many thin people who don't exercise or eat
right do you see? There are just as many.

There are just as many thin people who don't eat right and exercise as there
are fat people who don't? That's ridiculous.

Some people get fat,
others don't. Some people eat themselves to death, yes. But overeating
isn't as straight a relationship to obesity or ill health as smoking is.

I'm sure you didn't mean to say that smoking is a straight relationship to
obesity.
But as far as it being a bigger cause of ill health than obesity, I beg to
differ. Obesity leads to diabetes, arthritis, back problems, knee problems,
feet problems. Not to mention heart trouble, circulation problems, shortness
of wind, blood pressure issues, etc.

But to get back to the point, employers are within their rights to ban
smoking on the premises, and they are within their rights to encourage
healthy eating.

I suppose, but it doesn't seem right to ban it completely when you're on the
job 24 hrs a day like in the military.
