No, they weren't. The last post I made was to prove that even with the "legacy costs", they could net more money by selling the good Focus here at the same price as the Civic, than by selling the crappy one at far less.

You proved no such thing. It doesn't matter - the data is out and Ford
did better than the Japs.

I love how you make statements like that and NEVER provide sources. I suppose that way, you can never lose an argument... and if someone challenges you, you tell them to do their own homework. It's laughable.

If you claim Ford has bad management then
what about the Japs?

If they had bad management, would they have taken over more than half our market? I don't see them begging for money from their government.

It was in the news this week - it shouldn't be hard to find.
In other words... ya got nuthing.
No, in other words, do your own homework and keep yourself properly
informed.
You know very well that people here are expected to back up their statements with proof if challenged. You have to do your own homework; I'm not doing it for you.

I expect most people keep themselves informed on a weekly basis.

Lame, Jack... just admit you can't prove your assertions.

Yes, you stated that the Japanese are paying slave wages, and I proved that the average Japanese salary was quite high, around $60k, and that more families are living middle class lives on one salary.

So they pay their Jap workers more than their American workerss and
you're OK with that?

Prove they pay their Japanese workers more than their American workers.

But nice distraction from admitting you were wrong.

Tariff their asses then let's see what their Jap workers make.

Why would we want to prevent them from selling cars here if they are making the cars we want, and the American companies aren't?

Some of us want to help save the environment, instead of driving gas-guzzling cars.

Then why were Ford's numbers better than the other automakers and why
has Ford said it doesn't need government money unless the credit
crisis continues?
They are better because Ford IS selling fuel-efficient cars... just not in the US. They are on the right track, but should be forced to sell those cars here if they want our tax dollars.

And GM and Chrysler should not be given tax dollars unless they also start making fuel-efficient cars. GM in particular, should be made to put out the Volt next year, as promised. If they are not lying about having it ready, then it shouldn't be a problem to require it.

If they get the money and continue down this path of bad management decisions (I pointed out the decision to use precious research dollars on another Hummer as an example), then they will go out of business and we will lose our tax dollars. There should be conditions on the tax dollars, to force them into the future and to make good decisions on making fuel-efficient cars.

Obviously you didn't listen to all of the Congressional testimony. Why
should US companies use Jap batteries in those cars?

Because they are years ahead of us in research.

No, we should
develop our own then we can put out those types of vehicles. Our
companies should disassociate themselves from the Japs as much and as
quickly as possible.

Nonsense. They make a better product. Why shouldn't we have access to it? Why not shut down trade from China and bankrupt WalMart? Are you for that too, since they are the number one company responsible for outsourcing jobs and taking advantage of slave labor, and increasing our trade deficit?

Tariff their sorry asses until then and afterwards just for grins.

I notice you don't have much to say about their selling vehicles in
this country at a loss in order to try to prevent that which you say
you desire - US companies sell new technology autos. Sorry bastards.
Tariff their asses.

Prove that they sell their vehicles at a loss. You're talking out of your ass.
