Speaking of which, how does Albert Puljos win the NL MVP on a bad

without him.

Puljos had a monster year, as usual. Was he the MVP? Depends on what
the criteria is. It's always subject to debate. Was Howard more
valuable to the Phils with his 48 homers and 146 rbi's? Hard to say,
but he's surrounded by Utley, Rollins and Burrell....any one of whom
is capable of winning an MVP. At times Howard was an afterthought.
Their pitching and bullpen was so good that they probably would have
won without Howard...Would they have gone all the way? Well, Howard
had a bad playoffs...and only came to life in the last couple games of
the series. I don't really see how anyone can deny the award to
Puljos.

Couple of things here:

1. There is a set of criteria for the MVP award which points it more
towards "Player of the Year" than all sorts of definitions that people
attach to "Most Valuable". That set of criteria is either ignored or
skewed by voters with a seemingly new set of criteria being formed
every season. How one could not vote for Pujols escapes me.

2. The way the clown who started this thread apparently thinks, the
award would universally have to go to the 8 post season teams. That,
in itself, is pretty ridiculous.

3. You seem to imply that Howard's post season performance was a
factor. If that is you're thinking than that is incorrect. The voting
for all regular season awards is tabulated prior to the start of the
post season.
