Of course all Americans who earn this income. They also happen to be
the wealthiest Americans and it doesn't matter if you say the top 50%
of wealthy Americans, the top 20% of wealthy Americans or the top 1%
of wealthy Americans - it's still those with the most who receive
unearned income.

Wow. Now you're bendin' it like Beckham and spinn' it like Balloon.

So why should people on
fixed incomes be punished for their unearned income?
They're not now, they get a better deal than the slob who goes to work
for apaycheck every Friday. The point is 'income is income' and should
all be treated the same.

You neglect the fact that they and the slob are the same person.

And what the hell is
unearned income, anyway? Unearned? That's another bull*** term,
something
designed by tax code accountants. All income is earned, as Bruce would
say,
in some fashion.
Well, there is a lot of economic analysis on various types of income
with research that goes back many, many years.
If you put some moeny in the bank and it pays you interest you pay a
tax rate on that interest, not on the original money. If you work as a
janitor 8 hours a day you get a paycheck on Friday and you pay taxes
on your wages.
Shoould the two forms of income be treated equally or not?

No. Lack of savings is a huge problem in our society. We should encourage
savings, including lower taxation rates on interest, dividends, etc., for
those who manage to save.

If you think that's givng unfair advantage to the rich, then tax the rich
after a certain amount of unearned income; just don't take it out on the
average person.

I stand by my statement that the Dems are dumbasses. You may not agree, but
surely you can see that their tax policies, more than any other issue, is
what costs them elections.
