Re: Will show be Postponed Due to Lightning?

I'm not one to tell anyone what to do, especially since cost, time and
love of the music is at hand, but on this subject I have to chime
in .... on 5/8/00 as I was on my way back to Hartford for round 2,
leaving the Cape I saw the dark storm clouds over the Cape, they were
fierce. But I wasn't paying much attention, I was headed back to
Bruce.

NEVER in a million years did I expect that the next day's headline
would be that of someone on Cape being struck by lightning - and not
just someone, a long time, very dear friend of mine (who actually knew
Clarence "back in the day" down the shore from working soundboards).
Mike technically died. Not once, but 3x his heart stopped. 38 MONTHS
at Brigham and Womens for rehab. Doctors repeatedly told his wife that
if he lived, he'd be severly brain damaged, unable to walk, etc. etc.
There was talk of pulling the plug so to speak. How he not only
survived but can walk, can drive, can windsurf, can golf is beyond me
- although he still has MANY physical issues he has to deal with every
day of his life. (His solid, prosperous career in the stock market for
example, is over because of the stress it could cause his heart. On
any given day it can still cause pain when someone hugs him, etc.)

Anyway, that all said, as great those 2 days in Hartford were, I can't
even put to words how they were and always will be slightly skewed
because of what my friend went through.

That all said folks, I KNOW, believe me I do, it's Bruce, but please
be careful. The number of people struck by lightning can be
staggering, especially this time of year here in the states. I'd hate
for any of you to have to go through what my friend did. And for those
with kids especially, I'm going to my friend and hope that you drill
it into their heads, especially as we're still in prime outdoor
season ...
When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors.
There is NO kids soccer, baseball or any kind of outdoor activity
that's worth the risk.
