With the republicans, all you can expect is more and more businesses outsourcing, and moving overseas . . . .

I think you have the wrong idea... I have no employees; I use contractors, who are men, women, gay, Mexican, Korean, Indian, Indonesian, Portuguese, Italian, French, Swedish, Australian. If they know the software, I use them.

I pay $10 to the woman who runs the cleaning service. She employs about
10 girls and *probably* pays them $5/hour. She has costs, and bonds
them, and pays for things they break. I don't think she's getting rich
off them; she's making a living. I don't see that as exploitation. I
don't know that they're illegal; most don't speak a word of English.

How is it I'm a hypocrite? If I could find consultants who know the software I work with *for ANY price* in the US, I'd use them. I'm not Bill Gates who just doesn't want to pay good wages to Americans. In fact, the consultants overseas are MORE expensive to use in the US because the dollar sucks. Also, many of the contracts *are* for work overseas, and I use consultants in that country if possible, to avoid currency exchange hits. You see, this software company was originally a Swedish company, expanded throughout Europe, Australia, and shortly after they opened offices in the US, bush's first recession hit, and so they had just started recruiting and training here. They got bought out and are doing well now, but there are literally only a handful of consultants in the US outside of the software company. This software is slightly less complicated than SAP to implement, and the learning curve is about one year, so no one wants to invest in training someone.
As for the cleaning service, if I have to pay more, the job will go away; I'm not taking away a job from an American.
But I really do appreciate the time it must have taken to put that email together... You do make me feel so flattered.
Laurie
