My wife is up for a writing jopb on an HGTV show. She has agreed to
do a partial script on spec (no pay) to show them she can do it,
because this format of scriptwritng (working from already-shot
footage) is new to her.
So she needs to write the scipt in MS Excel, which we don't have. We
don't want to purhas ac copy unless she gets the job. Anyone have an
install they could share? Or any reccomendation on how to get a short
term usage of the program withouth document size restrictions?
Also, we DO have MS works suite 2003, which contans a spread***
program, but it's not Excel. Does anyone know if spreadh***
documents written in this program would be the same as Excel docs, or
how they would differ from excel docs?
I have personally neve seen a spread*** and was never clear on what
they are for or what they do. It's just this particular prodcution
company's method that the writers do this fairly unusual script
formating and use Excel to do so.
Interestingly, however, the sample scripts they emailed my wife
arrived as WORD documents (DOC file extension,) but they were
ovbviously composed in Excel.
Any advice from anyone would be apprecaited. This could end up being
a good gig for her and I to job share, but we need to figure out first
if it will be efficient for us to work in this format, or if the
writing and formatting will take so long they'll outweight the salary.
Thanks
Fredo
YOu can reply here or to my email
Fredo,
Openoffice (www.openoffice.org) a others have said is probably best. This
reminds me of a job I had about 20 years ago. The admin staff (HR, Acct,
etc... all used Lotus 123 as their only tool. It was wierd to see them
using Lotus spreadsheets for everything from databases to word processors.
Wierd....
