I understand the anti-fluoride stance (so happens we're on well water,
but I digress), but...
It took, oh, about .03 seconds to google up this:
http://www.fluoridedebate.com/question39.html
key extract: Countries and geographic regions with extensive
fluoridation include the U.S., Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong,
Malaysia, United Kingdom, Singapore, Chile, New Zealand, Israel,
Columbia, Costa Rica and Ireland.
From your source:
Laurie,
Since I know you are not actually illiterate, it sure would be nice if
you didn't play an illiterate on this board. I know perfectly well
what the source said. I also know what YOU said: "ALL other
civilized nations in the world have banned fluoride in the water." I
added the emphasis there: ALL. That is demonstrably untrue, and I
demonstrated it. Your "counter" source confirms my response. Very
first sentence: "Twenty-five countries in Europe, with bodies of
health professionals, scientists and public health agencies of their
own, reject fluoridation, some with outright bans." If there are SOME
with outright bans, that means there are others -- many others --
without.
So your statement that "all other civilized nations in the world have
banned fluoride in the water" is simply untrue.
This is correct, and elsewhere I have said "almost all", which is true.
I hadn't noticed that I misspoke up there by saying "all".

"There are 48 countries in Europe. According to the quoted source,
""Twenty-five countries in Europe, with bodies of health
professionals, scientists and public health agencies of their own,
reject fluoridation, some with outright bans."

I assume you can do the math wrt "almost all"?"

But... but... but... you're quibbling over the little things, making it seem like Laurie might be mistaken. And that's pitiful, isn't it?

I mean, if some of 25 countries out of 48 in Europe have banned fluoride in their water, that's almost all of them, right?

The point is, only 2 countries in Europe have fluoridation. 25 who HAD a program or considered one, have since rejected it. See how that works?

If you want to argue the point that we are one of a handful of countries which puts poison in our water, fine, but to quibble over the wording is childish. I'm sorry if that offends you, Robert, but it just is. This is why I get so frustrated discussing things in here. I am happy to admit I misspoke when I said "all" nations in Europe, but to quibble over "almost all" when the point is that only 2 European nations still put that crap in their water is besides the point. And you know it.

But the US, UK and Australia must know something that the other 25 European countries, Japan and China don't know... oh, wait, they were wrong about Iraq, weren't they?

(Ireland's second biggest political party is adamantly anti-fluoridation, so at least they're moving in the right direction)

Laurie
