I agree, Patrick. The two people, of whom Billy refers, pretended to be
"caring" liberals, yet they wrote with vial contempt of anyone who disagreed
with them. They both came across as frustrated, vainglorious wannabes.
The first of the pair went so far as to announce the price of his house,
during one debate, as a way of displaying his social superiority! Yes, the
true sign of a "man of the people" Democrat... boasting about his bourgeois
possessions to those he considered social inferiors. The laughable part was
that just about anyone living in the northeast who owned a home, had one
worth the same thing, and so he was roundly ridiculed for his lame attempt
at snobbery.
"Cash and prestige" do not speak louder than words. The practice of
treating all people, political partner, or foe, rich or poor, with
equanimity does, and this begins with civil discourse.
