so i got one of these for my wife.......it is a mio ( radio shack) ...
has a lithium battery....... no where in or about this thing has
anything about charging the battery...... the only way i can see to do
it is when its plugged into the car charger and the car is running...
am i missing something.. it is a portable device... very annoying
because nothing about charging the battery anywhere in the manual or
on the web site.. thanks for any info
You got it right. It charges as it's plugged in. No need to remove the
battery.

I fully charged one, used it and waited till it was fully drained, and started charging again...STUPID ME, I forgotten about it and left it in the charger for a full week and didn't realized it until today!!! ... Did I ruin this new battery by my dumbness again? ... My friend told me I should avoid charging with the car charger as much as possible because they create memory effect on the battery. ... Re: MFJ-259Z ... I checked the voltage on the two pins. ... I checked the voltage coming from the charger and its 18 volts. ... I checked the voltage from the + side to the - side of the battery pack... jumper inside the unit is on for charging.... (rec.radio.amateur.antenna)
