Now that would have been a challenging question for the 60 Minutes
correspondent to have asked him. As well as a question about the
less-than-stellar sound system. It could have been framedt in terms
of how do these business decisions fit in with the image we have of
Springsteen being a working class hero.

I don't think "60 Minutes" was after rmas as its audience.
True dat!
Still, that don't make either question a stretch.
$100 for nosebleeds is obvious to any reporter w/basic "who, what, where,
when, why and how" curiosity; especially given Bruce's unchaellenged
reputation for caring about people who are struggling (and may need a little
shot of inspiration more than your average BMW driver).
Crummy sound is obvious to anyone whose seen a show or rehearsel, which this
reporter had.
But you're still targeting at folks who are going to shows, which
isn't most of the "60 Minutes" audience. While I'll grant that it's
more interesting than yet another rehash of the firing of the ESB,
that doesn't make it interesting.
The ticket price question is a bit of a non-starter; Bruce shouldn't
be answering for tm fees, and the tiered prices are $89/69. Seeing as
the reunion tour was $67.50 venue-wide in some of the same buildings,
I recall that most if not all of the upper level seats in DC in 1999
were $37.50. That isn't exactly a secondary market. Seems like at
least 1/3 of the house was the lower price end on that tour.
I don't think that's accurate, Jim, but I'm not positive. I recall that
roughly the same types of seats (rear view, highest level) were cheap
seats on the reunion tour as now.
They were, might even have been fewer cheap seats. I was in the 400s
for the last night section about as far away from the stage as
possible up quite afew rows and it was a full price ticket. 2nd night
I was in a row of temporary folding seats on the concourse, last row
of 100s apparently and full price. And first night upper level back
left corner. All full price tickets.
I recall back then thinking it was funny that the MIB upgraded people
from the far side of the arenas and not from the actually (if based on
price) worst seats high and behind the stage.
