What O'Reilly said (1. Body Language)

I won't play the silly name games (you know, where children make fun of
someone's name as a way to taunt and disagree with them). But jeez,
O'Reilly, you were really stretching to make a point - and your body
language expert just wouldn;t cooperate.
Q: "He doesn't like the question"
A: NO, he thinks it's ridiculous
Q: It means something that he won't look the interviewer in the eye"
A: No, I would need to know whether he normally looks people in the eye"

and then when the expert is going to say something that Bill might not like,
it's cut off like Tony Soprano eating onion rings.

Body Language: Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Bruce Springsteen

Bill O'Reilly, Tonya Reiman

O'REILLY: "Back of the Book" segment tonight, our now world famous "Body
Language" segment, starring Bruce Springsteen, Nancy Pelosi and Barack
Obama. Here's Tonya Reiman.

OK. Springsteen's -- at the beginning of the program, trying to plug his new
album. But doing a lot of political stuff. Roll the tape.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And you know there are people watching this interview who
are going to say to themselves, Bruce Springsteen is no patriot.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, MUSICIAN: Well, that -- that's just the language of the
day. You know, the modus operandi for anybody who doesn't like somebody, you
know, criticizing where we've been or where we're going.

You know, it's unpatriotic at any given moment to sit back and let things
past that are -- that are damaging to someplace that you love so dearly and
that has given me so much.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

O'REILLY: All right. What did you pick up?

REIMAN: You know, it's funny. When I watch him, he's passionate. He looks
down a lot. And I think we've talked about this before. Emotional people
tend to look down quite often. So you see how his eyes are primarily looking
down.

So he's doing a lot of talking to himself as he's going through this, to
kind of figure out what's the right thing to say.

But he is very skeptical when they starts talking about him being patriotic.

O'REILLY: He doesn't like the question?

REIMAN: No. I get the impression that he's saying it's a ridiculous
question.

O'REILLY: All right.

REIMAN: I am fully patriotic. I just don't agree with my government.

O'REILLY: Now, he doesn't look Kelly in the eye -- Kelly the interviewer on
"60 Minutes" -- very much. What does that tell you when somebody doesn't
look you in the eye?

REIMAN: It tells me nothing unless I know that they normally look somebody
in the eye. So you and I, when we have conversations, we both maintain eye
contact. There are people who are just uncomfortable with that, and you have
to base line them to know that.

So if I'm somebody who doesn't normally make eye contact, regardless...

O'REILLY: But isn't there -- isn't there a reason people are uncomfortable
with eye contact? Doesn't that play into their personality somewhat?

REIMAN: Sure, it does. It depends on who they are, what they are traveling
about. Some people are just more emotional, and they tend to collect their
thoughts easier when they're looking down. That's the difference.

But if someone looks at you in the face most often and then suddenly starts
looking down, that's when the role of what are they really thinking comes
into play?

O'REILLY: All right.

REIMAN: So with him, just quickly I will tell you, I did get the impression
that he almost feels like he's gotten so much from America -- I almost see
this -- this look of...

O'REILLY: He looks troubled to me. He looks like he's conflicted in some
reason. But you're the expert, not me.
