Fair enough. I've met many an American here who assured me that "this place
is just the bomb, man". That may have been slightly drug-induced in many
cases. I can see this is a nice and somewhat unique place, but there are
other cities that have stuff that we don't. Lower top 10 sounds reasonable.

Two words....and the first one is "legal........"

Yeah, but that's the same everywhere in the country.

oh. But I have only been in Amsterdam. I had such a great few days there
( of course, I was 22 and it was 1973 and I did meet these cute guys at
a youth hostel and a cool British girl and we basically had a blast) and
yes, I even went to the museums. But to me , the thing I remember the
most , was sitting in Anne Frank's attic bedroom and it looking exactly
as I had pictured it and me sitting there and sobbing. That stands out
as one of the most powerful moments of my young life. Hell, of my entire
life.

And yes, narrow houses and wonderful pastries and just a great feeling
in the air. I ain't never seen anything like it - until I moved to San
Francisco .

NYC still gets my lifetime vote as the absolute most exciting city . I
really liked Rome though ( although, damn, weird drivers) and of course
was fascinated with Moscow. Zeke will be sad to hear that my week in
Chicago a million years ago was not pleasant.

Venice was the only time my boyfriend at the time and I stopped
fighting on our entire Italian trip ( 1983) because ...hey, you fall in
love with whoever you are with in Venice. It was gorgeous. And Perugia-
even more gorgeous. And if was very very cool seeing my grandfather's
little town Casalciprano. Very cool indeed.

London is great too.

I need to go see more cities. Shanghai. Tokyo. Madrid. New Delhi .
PARIS! Although I would really really really like to go to Mars. And if
I was the first one there I could start a city from scratch and name it.
Perhaps I will name it Springsteenia.

But after reading The Ruins I am glad that my planned trip to the
Yucatan fell through ( years back).

no clever sig, except this one: GO YANKEES
