The Strawbs?

I have!

I don't think so. And
anyone who can sit down with Pink Floyd's "Meddle" or any Moody Blues

liked them too! they're often some of the best stuff on the radio
these days, when they get played.

I'll always go to bat for Genesis, but they were one of those First
Love bands for me-I saw them several times in the 70's and Peter
Gabriel solo once. When I saw Bruce the first time in '78, I'd been
taken in by his songwriting (as I was by jackson browne's and a few
others), but the live performer who he was up against was Peter
Gabriel.

For some people, they get their meandering noodling melody fix thru
jam bands like the Grateful Dead or Pearl -for the others of us, there
was prog-rock.
