I was just listening to the clips and thinking that this material sort

like music that has been made to appeal to a large audience?
Obviously, it most likely will not sell 10 Million copies in the US,
alone; however, if Sony wants to get back some of the investment they
made in Bruce's huge contract and they promote these songs to Adult
Contemporary radio, this album could sell surprisingly well. When I
suggested it might sell 3 million (in the US) just after hearing
"Radio Nowhere" several people suggested that thought was just not
practical, but after hearing the material, I don't think it is out of
the range of possiblities.

P.S. I am not doubting Bruce's Worldwide popularity, and am quite
sure it will sell Internationally as well.

There is no chance this album will sell 3 million copies. Bruce is
not going to have a hit single, this stuff is not going to played on
Top 40 radio except for maybe in NYC. In today's environment, if they
sell 1.5 million, that would be considered strong. Considering the
other albums coming out around the time of Magic, Bruce will be
fortunate if he opens number one the week of Oct 2. That appears to
be their main goal.

The Rising sold around 2 million and that was in a perfect storm of
publicity with a massive PR campaign. And that was before CDs sales
plunged industry-wide.

I don't think he'll even get close to 2 million this time unless he
wins major Grammys.

The Rising would've sold a lot more if the lead track wasn't so
laborious, and the album had better songs with better melodies.

Even from 30 second clips you can tell that Magic has at least 6
melodies that are stronger than anything on the Rising with the
exception of MCOR.

My point is that like Norah Jones from that year, if the 2 million
people who bought the Rising loved it and played it a lot and told
their friends to get it it would've sold closer to 5.

I agree 3 mill is a lot 7 years later. But to say it has no shot is a
little much. IMO.
