I'm employing the socially agreed term for her. However, I agree that
what's good for one, ought to be good for all. If last names are the
standard that the press, and others, should use her last name.

I think it is a combination of motives, though. A. Women are less likely to
use last names and be called by last names B. There's a bit of the
manipulative "Ha, mah name's Jimmah Cahtah" faux familiarity C. It makes it
easier to differentiate her from Bill Clinton.
