Re: Live 1975-85 Top 5 & 5 worst?

my favorites from the boxset:

1. thunder road (one of the greatest performances/recordings of his
career methinks. there's a reason they started the set with this
one...)

2. saint in the city (just plain 'ol incendiary, plus his vocals just
nail the classic lyrics)

3. candy's room (I could "because the night" or "adam" on another day)

4. darkness on the edge of town (again, this is just NAILED. gotta
have the scream of release before the last musical crash, this one
does. the whole vocal seems totally inhabited, and the band is right
there too. probably as definitive as it gets. then again, I love the -
radically different feel of the-- christic versions too.)

5. growin' up (I guess)

other favorites: the promised land, rosalita, cadillac ranch, and
reason to believe.

my bottom 5:

two comments first, almost contradictory: I like nearly eveything on
the box, and think it's a great set, so my bottom 5 is a relative
thing. having said that, the set does tail off on disc 3 with so much
usa stuff, doesn't it?! I guess that material helped tell "the story"
they were after (and included material all the USA fans would be
looking for perhaps?). still some gems though like "no surrender" and
the title track.

1. darlington

2. workin' on the hwy

3. paradise by the C (it's good but never something I want to listen
to really)

4. my hometown

5. war

and the tracks I wanted on there most but didn't get:

1. atlantic city (those full band versions from '85 rocked! Akin to
the "wholly ***!" versions of "youngstown" in '99)

2. prove it (guess they saved that one for down the road, because
clearly it's one his favorite live songs to play and he believes in
it)
