NBC: Dual-layer burners

Questions about dual-layer burners since I'm at work and feeling lazy
about looking for links to tell me the answers...

1) Which are the best brands of burners? Of dual-layer discs?
2) Can dual layer DVD burners still burn regular CDs and single layer
DVDs (like a single-layer DVD burner can?
3) Will the usual software (DVD Decrypter, Nero, etc.) work with the
dual layer burners or do I need new software as well?
