Questions about dual-layer burners since I'm at work and feeling lazy
about looking for links to tell me the answers...
1) Which are the best brands of burners? Of dual-layer discs?
2) Can dual layer DVD burners still burn regular CDs and single layer
DVDs (like a single-layer DVD burner can?
3) Will the usual software (DVD Decrypter, Nero, etc.) work with the
dual layer burners or do I need new software as well?
1. On the burners: I like Lite-on. Never had one go bad (and I've populated them in several of my own and family machines during builds/upgrades. Even dual layer optical drives are very reasonably priced now....they are essentially commodity items.
On the media: I stick with name brands I recognize. Zero dual layer coasters to date.
2. Yes.
3. I use Nero v. 7. Works just fine (and comes bundled with many burners). With Nero costing $40-75 (depending on the version), and drives available for less than $50...well, you can do the math:-).
