I like Bob's newest better than Love & Theft (sacrilege, probably, but
I just didn't like the way that one sounded. to compare Bob and
Bruce-Love & Theft had a bit of the overblown quality that the Seeger
Sessions did for me)

To the second part of your sentence-it's funny to me anyway......but I
often thought I was listening to someone else's songs while spinning
Modern Times today (on the 2nd or 3rd time round):

When the Deal Goes Down----------- straight out of some
methodist/lutheran hymnal
this one uses so many ecclesial words and the style of the white man's
spiritual, it's uncanny...... Like Land of Hope and Dreams, he seems
to be directing his gratitude for redemption to someone here on earth.

repeated intact)

I'm liking it overall quite a bit so far. And looks like Bob will be
my next live show, after a full year's hiatus.
