If this includes covers songs that he's done through the years, then I'd
want to have:
1) "Who'll Stop the Rain"
2) "Across the Borderline"
3) "I Want You"
4) "It's My Life"
5) "Drift Away"
6) "Street Fighting Man"
7) "Little Latin Lupe Lu"
8) "Chimes of Freedom"
9) "Twist and Shout" (from BITUSA Tour)
10) "Follow that Dream" (not all that sure if this counts as a cover...or if
this one has been rewritten so much that he can pretty much call it his
own...)
11) "Higher and Higher"
12) "Mountain of Love"
it might be good to be wrong on this one, but I strongly doubt he/they
would
pull cover songs from different shows and compile them for release.
doing
so would virtually gut a lot of shows of a big element that would make
them
unique. much more likely, imo, is complete live shows featuring the
cover
song in context, making the show/set (and in many cases, probably the
performance itself) more special.
the same for blazing live versions of individual springsteen songs
(don't see
it happening) though I think such is more likely than a live covers
collection.
I still maintain a series of complete live shows is completely
inevitable. few artists
archive and live history seems more tailor-made for such a series. I
also think they
are clear on what a big chunk of springsteen's reputation is built on:
the shows, and
will release a bunch accordingly.
and as I'm sure many of us could rifle off in under a minute, there's
certainly many very distinct shows spanning most of his career for the
picking.
maybe after a bunch of shows have been released, they'd compile a bunch
of
outstanding or rare performances. I'm sure there are lots of shows that
for
one reason or another dont' have a chance of release that contain a
special
gem or two.
