Re: and then there were two....or...

You adopted a 9-year-old? God *bless* you!

Weimaraners are such beautiful dogs--even lumpy ones! No doubt you've seen
William Wegman's photos of his weimaraners. We even named one of our cats,
Batty, after one of his dogs.

Enjoy!

..."can you say all day sucker? that's it, I knew you could....?"

once again we succumbed to the pathos of a fine old dog in desperate need
of a new home.

The "new" one is a 9-year old Weimerarner, about 20 pounds overweight with
a generous supply of rather unsightly, but very benign fatty nodules
around his his belly and hindquarters. Once you get past that, he's an
incredibly laid back gentleman, who is content to stay close by your side
and chill out stretched out on the floor.

There is Kabuki dance going on with the incumbent dog, as both of them are
deathly afraid that they will miss out on the petting or food given to the
other. This has manifested itself mostly in the form or a marathon "i can
drink more water than you can" contest....which then becomes, quite
literally, a pissing contest later. No actual fisticuffs, I think he can
remember when he made the transition under similar circumstances (family
divorcing and the partners each headed to "no dogs allowed" places.

The two cats have done the math and figured out they no longer outnumber
the dog population. Neither gave new dog a second look, and he doesn't
chase...just sniffs.

He's already nine years old...how long could we possibly have to deal with
TWO dogs:-)
