The women's movement operating at the lowest common denominator is
about leveling the playing field; I consider that a degraded mode of
operation, but that's me. When they're in high gear, it's about
creating alternative structures to the status quo that work for
everybody. An example would be that six months off that Sweden has for
both parents that Laurie mentioned. Back in the day, Sweden had a
female head of state who promptly loaded up her cabinet with women.
They rearranged things a little bit, from the looks of things, and not
just for the benefit of women.

You are saying I've never spent long periods of time at home with my kids?
And you know this how? Or, are you saying that I don't automatically accept
and kowtow to your demonization of men. Sorry babe, that ain't me neither.

It aint pretty when people pass a judgement on you without knowing the
intimate details of your life, not that you would want them knowing
that stuff. I think that's what got people's backs up in the first
place in this thread, that judgemental thing. I don't know how the
census does it, but if you spent more than a year as the primary
caregiver of your kid(s), foregoing career advancement and all other
associated opportunities, then yeah, you're part of that tidal wave
along with Bill, and both of ya are way ahead of me! Spending time at
home with kids is not the same as being the primary caregiver, just ask
Bill and Ruth, they know about these things.
