With all due respect, mr. David....pulling out mr. Jyqm's age is a cheap

I hear your point, sir, but respectfully disagree.

I referenced my own experience in the post, remembering clearly that
when I was that age and someone criticized something I cared about,
especially Springsteen, I often took it personally. His hair-trigger
response to my posts that criticize Springsteen (not just this thread)
bely his age, regardless of whether more concrete clues were dropped.

David, once again, this is ridiculously dishonest. I have no problem
with anyone criticizing Springsteen, and you know this. Note that you
don't see me issuing "hair-trigger" responses to Susan when she
expresses her dissatisfaction with the Seeger album and tour, nor did I
blast Adam or Hal when they posted about how they didn't really care
for the Seeger concerts they saw. I have zero desire for everyone in
the world to love Springsteen unconditionally, and I have plenty of
criticisms of him myself. It's not at all a rare occurrence that I echo
Jim Mitchell in his complaints about Bruce's touring practices and
seeming unwillingness to play his music to a broader audience in nicer
venues for lower prices.

I do, however, have a problem with hypocrisy. Call it a pet peeve of
mine. But I'm a fairly logical guy, so when I see people being
dishonest and inconsistent in their arguments, I tend to call them on
it. And, quite frankly, you my friend give me far too many
opportunities to do so.

You simply can't vilify Springsteen for extorting money from his fans
while at the same time singing the praises of Elvis Costello who does
the exact same thing. Nor can you berate Springsteen for being
deliberately obscure with his art because you think great art should
appeal to a broad audience... and then go on about how much you love
James Joyce. If you're really not experiencing any cognitive dissonance
here, then you're simply deluding yourself. And to respond to
criticisms of that hypocrisy by using the tired straw man of, "You're
just a Springsteen apologist who can't handle anything negative said
about him!" is even more dishonest.

Sorry, David, but I'm not some teenybopper idealist who can't stand the
thought of people saying negative things about his favorite rock stars.
I don't idolize these people the way you once did. So quit the
projecting, and quit the bull***. If you've got an actual rebuttal to
my response to your ridiculous statements about Springsteen v.
Costello, then respond to those arguments on your own terms. But put
away the obvious rhetorical fallacies, all right?
