I haven't read this in some years, so I'm not sure if it's aged well,
but I believe it's still one of those dark got-to-read-it warped
classics for the sick of mind.
Another one of those is Frederick Exley's "A Fan's Notes." Both
brilliant and strange men, both deceased.
I hope your CoD edition has the introduction by Walker Percy explaining
the book's back story. It is one of the saddest and strangest stories
I've read in literature.
You know, I was just thinking the same thing when I saw it at Borders
yesterday and noticed that the edition with the WP intro looked
different than the version that I ordered. But I have read about poor
JKT's story before, and it is very sad and strange.
I'm not familiar with Exley, but I do like dark and warped so I'll have
to try him. Now Bukowski- that guy pushes my limits for warped and
dark.
