I would like to ask you cat owners out there for advice- Have you ever
had a cat that was really off it's normal behavior, but still looking
good? Hydrated, I mean, not losing hair, still bright eyed, drinking
lots and lots, but with decreased appetite? Doesn't appear to be
losing weight. And by off its normal behavior, I mean particularly
taking to spending most of the day and night in odd places he never
favored before, behind doors, in closets and in the bathtub (12 hours
today, only coming out to greet me and eat a little baby food diced
chicken)? He doesn't seem to be tender anywhere either and will accept
rubbing or brushing, but just not with the same appreciation as before.
This is the fourth day and I'm stymied. Any advice appreciated.
He soooooo hates going to the vet, I've been loathe to do it but
barring any change tonight I think there's no other choice.
How old?? Drinking lots and lots (along with weight loss...from 23 lb to
12!) was the principal symptom of diabetes in our 12 y/o one-eyed Maine
coon cat last summer. He spent 7 months taking diabetes....and then his
blood sugar level returned to normal...so we're off the
every-12-hours-shoot-the-cat cycle for a while.
Just another one of those peculiar cat "things" - they can
STOP being diabetic!
Glad to hear yours was one of them.
