Yup, that's right. Teaching children how to count, the different
colors, and the alphabet are "elitism" tactics that must be curtailed.

1. A very small percentage of PBS/CPB programming is "educational".
2. Broadcasting is passive - it is 0% effective unless the parent/child turns on the TV and tunes to a particular station.
3. Broadcasting is not interactive. The child receives no interactive feedback, nor can it provide any to the broadcaster.
4. Television is seen as a babysitter by parents. Time spent watching TV takes away from far more educational time spent with parents.
5. Watching television is sedentary and is often accompanied by the consumption of junk food, contributing to obesity.

While you make a good point about television and parenting, television can be used positively as part of the tools available to educate children as long as its not the only tool. PBS educational programming is far and above commercial network programming for children. There are not commercials for junk food every ten minutes and the shows themselves are not 30 minute commercials for the latest Japanese card game.
