I'm surprised to hear this is happening back East now too. I never
experienced this until moving to Northern Cali, but everyone out here seems
to do it. It's as if they think letting you in - even though you are not
slowing them down - is a competitive thing and they would lose if they let
you in. When you need to exit off the highway out here you have to start
planning early, as everyone is too stupid to just go with the flow and let
people move between lanes.

They other thing they do out here is block the driveways. People are trying
to get out onto a busy street from a strip mall and nobody will let them in.
They race up to the red light and jam on their brakes without looking to the
right side to see if cars are on the sidelines trying to get in. They just
stop right in front of those cars and straight ahead, acting like they don't
see them; it's disgusting. Many people out here sit like sheep two or more
red light cycles trying to get out onto the busy street. I don't play that
game with these idiots. I aggresively nose in front of them and give them a
nice polite thank you wave, even though they had NO intention of letting me
in.

Even funnier when you are in the opposite situation. You stop short and
leave the driveway open, then they don't go. They just sit there. You
almost have to get out of your car, walk over and TELL them that you are
letting them in. Of course the few that "get it" never give a courtesy wave
unless they're originally from somewhere else.

BTW: I never seem have these problems driving in LA. It just seems like
they get it down there. Maybe it's because there are so many people on the
roads that they need to learn how to cooperate, but whatever the reason, I
find driving down there to be a lot more normal.
