SistahMarilyn here. I'll do what I can to answer your questions, altho I'm no
Mac expert by any means.

File format compatability is seamless. I regularly take MS Word & Excel files
that I have built at home on the Mac to use at work on our Win 2000
Professional network.

Mac's have built-in Ethernet, so I would think it should work pretty easily.
I have a broadband connection (cable modem) connected into a Linksys wireless
router. It was scary how easy it was to set it up with the Mac. The wireless
router came with software to install for Windows-based machines; I just
hooked up the cables and used the web-based interface for the wireless router
to configure. No need to install any additional software.

I would think so. I use the old HP printer that I used on our Dell. Just
hooked up the USB cable and it worked. Mac OS X comes with lots of printer &
scanner drivers built in, so you can probably just hook them up and start
printing. I hooked up out Epson scanner the other day and thought it would be
misery getting it to work. I just plugged it in and it worked. No additional
drivers or SW. Greg thought I had lost my mind - I was laughing so hard in
sheer amazement that it worked so easily.
Also, if you are in true Windows withdrawal, you can load Virtual PC on the
laptop and run Windows XP.
Take a look thru the Apple website for additional info. They have a message
board there too that may help with other questions. (BTW: the questions you
are asking are really about Mac OS X features, not specifically the G4 or a
G5).
