Further checking provides that while Cohen, who was raised in a religious,
Jewish family in Montreal, was briefly
a Buddhist Monk in the 70's (hell, it was fashionable, I suppose) he
commented that he still practiced Judaism, and was
quite happy with his "old" religion, meaning Judaism.
He's an interesting man. He's been in some very dark places in his life. On
the other hand, he lived with Rebecca De Mornay for a while---as did
Harry Dean Stanton. This is a woman with an ability to see past the exterior
of a man that I can really admire.
