Re: Old Conservatives vs New Conservatives

and I'll admit, I was just draftin a "I was wrong" response. Obviously you and Innes have seriously inquired about heading north (which I imagine is more than Ms. Sarandon has done). And yes, the fact that you both damn near echoed each other about their response to the kids was interesting. Makes me wonder how Canada would react if we just started running accross the border and living 23 to a house in Quebec, which apparently may not be that far off.

I'm not quite ready to write off this country. Overall, I still think it's pretty swell, even with all it's flaws.

I don't blame yo one bit for sticking it out in this great land, and
taking advantage of all it has to offer - nor do I blame you for
objecting to what you feel is (and may very well be) a war driven solely
by economic desires, particularly as it may impact your family. But
please don't pull the Susan Sarandan battle cry of "this sucks, I'm
going to Canada." Pretty universally, that seems to be little more than
a slogan that fits nicely on a sign that people hold before settling
into the security of their homes with US addresses. I guess that's all
I'm trying to say when it comes down to it.

Fair 'nuff. I admit that, since we haven't made the move yet, there's no
guarantee that I'm not just blowing smoke. And in fact, since we have a few
years, we may ultimately decide not to leave the US, or we may opt for
another country. We're just wide open to the idea of leaving, and my
diminished love for this country is no longer enough to keep me here.

That's all.
