Hurricane Donation Drive - UPDATE

In just a little over one day:

- We have raised over $700
- People have pledged to donate books and art supplies
- One person have donated 200 boxes of crayon
- Many others have inquired about joining up with the "team" as we work in
the Food Banks for New Orleans during Thanksgiving week.
- There are some wonderful DVD' offers out from some very generous people
for those who donate please take advantage

As the word is starting to spread and people are returning back from Labor
Day and to work /school, we expect that the donation amount gets much
higher.

We certainly hope that everyone here will consider our fundraising drive,
though in the end, how it gets there doesn't matter - just that it does get
there in some fashion.

We are working with one of Bruce Springsteen's favorite charities, America's
Second Harvest, and The Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans to
raise much needed money and supplies.

This is a two-part fund raising effort. Every dollar raised will be used for
one of these two purposes:
· Part of the money raised will be sent to The Second Harvest Food
Bank of Greater New Orleans upon close of this fund raising effort, to
provide immediate help for those in need of food.

· A group of us will be traveling to the New Orleans area during
Thanksgiving week and to work in the local food/soup kitchens. The remainder
of all donations raised will be used for the Kid's Café (a component of
American's Second Harvest) to provide and deliver tangible donations to the
Kid's Cafe (in the form of supplies such as pencils, crayons, coloring
books, reading books, paper, back packs, etc (further information will be
forthcoming) for the children of the Gulf Coast affected by Hurricane
Katrina. This will allow these children to get closer to a normal life, to
continue their education and development, and in some cases, to simply have
a healthy meal.

**No portion of money raised will be used for transportation, fuel or
lodging costs. Every dollar will go to one of the two charities listed
above.

** You may donate specific tangible items, if you wish, or we will use cash
donations to purchase these items and deliver them Thanksgiving week.

** Any donor who wishes may specify either of the two options listed above.
All requests will be honored.

Time for action is now.

Orleans

We are also accepting item donations for the Kids Café. Those items can be
sent to the same above address.

At the end of the deadline, a single certified check will be issued to The
Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans. Enclosed with this check
will be a list of all those who donated. If you wish to remain anonymous,
please indicate that with your donation.
