Fair enough, and I don't doubt that you "call it as I see it."
Still, it seems as though this place is a source of aggravation for you.
If I show how little I understand your posts...well, I'm pretty good when it
comes to reading comprehension (better than some, not as good as others),
but unless something is overtly obtuse/obscure, I usually am able to make
heads & tails of what I'm reading.
So, yeah, I my not "get you" ~ but you may not be doing all that great a job
of conveying what keeps you here.

It works both ways....of that I have no doubt.
But, remember, this is a Springsteen newsgroup.
A lot of folks have been following his work for many decades.
Even as early on as the DARKNESS tour one got an inkling of what
Springsteen's politics were ~ even if he tried his best to mask
them...prior to his becoming more outspoken about certain things (for
instance the night Reagan was elected)...to meeting with Oliver North...to
his stance of Affirmative Action...to becoming downright partisan last year.
I mean, I was only 15 when he mentioned Ron Kovic's BORN ON THE FOURTH OF
JULY book at Winterland.
I went to the Sunvalley Mall in Concord, California (or went with my folks
who drove me there) and got a copy.
Read the book...and I think I sort of had a clue to what Springsteen's
political leanings were.
Hell, one might even have come to some of the same conclusions just by
hearing "Factory."

After nearly 30 years, if you've listened to a cat...and have stuck with his
work...then I think there's a safe chance that someone's going to share in
some of that belief structure.
Sure, there are exceptions ~ those who say he's a masterful
performer/songwriter...but just a bit misguided politically...but, overall,
I think a great deal of us who have followed him through several decades
share some of his values. So, it would make sense that folks are going to
go to their grave (for whatever such efforts are worth) trying to uphold
those values in their online discussions.

It's like this, Rev ~ I once got invited over to someone's house to play
Dungeons & Dragons. I got there and someone was decked out in some sort of
Wizard outfit (I think he was the cat running the game). I was told what my
character's powers and flaws were...and proceeded to have three of the most
dismal hours of my life.
In other words, not my cup of mud.
But, having something of an addictive personality myself when it comes to
something I'm enthusiastic about, I can fully understand why some folks
would live, eat and breathe that game. I'm just not one of them.
That said, I'm not inclined to go over to a USENET newsgroup that's devoted
to Dungeons & Dragons (don't know for certain if there is any such place)
to tell those enthusiasts how they're squandering away precious chunks of
their lives that they'll never get back. I'd never dream of doing such a
thing.
And, in turn, would be offended, if someone came around and started to tell
me how I've wasted a chunk of my life being an enthusiastic listener of
Springsteen's
(or Dylan's or Bowie's or Al Stewart's) music.

In essence, what you're doing is akin to trying to tell Dungeon & Dragon
enthusiasts that they're wasting their time and lives.
It wouldn't fly all that well or be all that warmly received by the avid
gameplayer ~ as well it shouldn't ~ and I can't see how it would be all that
well received over on this ng when you what is almost the equivalent.
