Re: nbc-Nero6 error

Rick and Andre,

Thank you both for your thoughts on this problem. I have a couple of
other burning programs, but I like Nero the best of them all and would
love to get it functional again.

I've been reading the tech thread that you pointed me to, Rick, and
haven't seen a consensus yet on what the solution is, other than Nero6
just crapping out, out of the blue one day. I will bring some canned
air home from work tomorrow and blow out my CDRW drive. I had the case
open earlier this year to install more ram, and it was rebuilt a couple
months ago (reformatted, new OS-Win XP), so there shouldn't be an
inordinate amount of dust bunnies living in there. Here in Colorado,
dust piles up fast tho.

As to some of your recommendations Andre- my machine is on every day,
all day pretty much (never overnight), and again it was rebuilt two
months ago, so it should be fairly defragged, but that couldn't hurt. I
tried a reboot yesterday, and it failed on the very next disc I tried
to burn. It's seeming like, from reading the other poor slobs with this
problem and thinking about it, to be a bug in the Nero6 program. I had
an earlier Nero version and didn't have this problem. I've actually
had better luck (or no worse) with some no name generic discs that I
used. It started pooping out after I switched from HP's to Fuji's, but
intermittently-burn one disc of either brand fine, then crap out on the
next. It's becoming more consistent, it seems, no matter the brand.
I'd switch over to the no namers, but I'm sending these in trade and
want to use better quality.

Ergh-I thought this would be one of those "flip the jumbo switch back
to overdrive, undo the curly whirly and you'll be good to go" type
questions.......

I think I should go in search of an earlier version of Nero maybe?

At least when it bombs out, the discs are still usable when I go to my
alternate
burning programs.

thanks again.........

susan
