Re: HOW MUCH MORE 'CHANGE' DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?

Down today from 4.01 to $3.94 for low grade.
Virtually all of Tennessee and the Carolinas have
been getting gouged for a week now. And a barrel
down to $96.00... lowest its been since April. Go
figure.

you know why that spike happened. Refineries, which are mostly owned
by the oil companies, had to shut down because of the hurricane.

Yes, I'm aware of why it went up, but it is a false reasoning.
Again, there is NO shortage of fuel. Last Friday some of the
stations were running out, due to the stupidity of everyone
and their brother rushing out to fill up. By Sunday, all stations
had gas again, and as far as I am aware, anyone, anywhere,
can buy all the gas they can afford to pay for. Not once have
I seen anyone ANYWHERE say there is not enough crude oil,
not enough refined oil, or not enough gas. Pure speculation,
pure greed, and that's the way the companies from the US to
Saudi Arabia want it. OPEC recently cut production 500,000
barrels a day in order to maintain barrel prices at the 100 bucks
a barrel level. If you accept the premise that there is no shortage,
nearly all arguments lose their validity. Over the last few months
we have cut US use by 10%. Prices on the barrel fell, but the
national average is still hovering just below 4 bucks a gallon.
