you put
a dvd file into your home player, it's own software takes over. It's
freeware
designed by geeks, very small, light footprint.. source code
available. As
most of my torrent stuff is flacs, it also handles those.. anything
I've ever
thrown at it actually, with the exception of shn files. Believe those
can
be done too, as a plugin, for probably a couple bucks.

All that aside.. in the downloading world, almost all my vids are avi
files.
4-6 movies per disc, excellent quality if done properly. Avi files are
just simply
more practical and quicker. Most home standalone players will now play
any form of mpeg files (which include vobs) as well as the newer divx
rips.
Recently purchased my second philips home dvd player for 60 bucks at
amazon ( philips dvp 5982). Their dvp 3960 player runs 45 bucks but
doesnt do the hdmi upscaling I wanted for my big screen lcd. Both of
these
players have the advantage of Ultra divx, which not only plays the
newer
divx codec files.. but also plays the older divx rips (the 3.0 codecs
and such)
and also plays xvid files. Having literally thousands and thousands of
videos,
everything I've thrown at those players, has played successfully, as
well as
raw vob files. Besides the hdmi upscaling on the 5982 model, it also
has
a usb plugin.. if someone comes over with a jump drive, it'll play
straight
from that.. it will also accept an external hard drive into the usb
connection,
but the external drive must be fat32, and not NTFS. All this is
almost irrelevant
now, as I've added a dual output video card, and just watch movies
from the
computer, to the big screen, while still having full use of the
computer/monitor.
The only reason now, to put anything on cd/dvd, is purely to back it
up.

I use an antique pentium 533 to run thetorrents.. mere 128mb of ram.
Nothing else on it. It runs in the background to the point I barely
know it's
there. It's an otherwise throwaway computer, and is perfect for the
job.
Any problems, just reformat and go. Utorrent is my interface of
choice.
dime, zomb, jamtothis, being most used music site..isohunt,piratebay,
mininova most used movie,tv sites. I know this was more than you
asked, but some of it is just extra shit pointed at AJ for his info..
that and
wtf else I got to do at 5am.. as an aside, to AJ.. the music
sites I
listed have a ratio to meet.. you gotta upload a percentage of what
you
download.. (around 60% minimum)

*Thanks for all the info. Although I have one question. You said "in
the downloading world, almost all my vids are avi files. 4-6 movies
per disc, excellent quality if done properly."

OK, I'm using WINDVD Creator to make my movies/DVD's and I'm only able
to burn about 3-3 and half hours to one disc which is usually just two
movies. How can I get 4-6 movies on one disc like you mentioned?
