We could make snow where we needed it in town, and the conditions were
good at Nakiska.
I do recall Juan Samaranch mentioning in one of his speeches Calgary
is the only City that could hold the summer and winter Olympics at the
same time.
I also recall an American network reporter standing on Signal Hill the
week before the games started suggesting the bitter cold and high
winds might cause cancellation of some of the events. A few days later
a Chinook rolled in and the games were held in almost summer like
conditions. Well not that warm but certainly very comfortable.
That was a pretty strange year for weather, alright. We had a string
of years like that, as I recall. Wish they would come resume!
