That's strange. As a rule, the trannys on HDs are pretty much
indestructable.
This might be a cautionary tale about how hopping up motors shortens
the life of other parts in the drive train?
Best to leave things near-stock if what you want is long life and
reliability.
The SE 6 speed is designed to work with the higher output engines and Tim's
is relatively mild compared to what many do without problem.
With all due respect Bob, that is a cop out. A lil Jap 600 is
designed to spin over 3 times as fast and output about twice the power
of a stock Harley, but their trannys don't grenade if ridden at street
speeds for 27k miles.
Not that Tim's incident may not just be the random lemon, just
sayin...
Otoh, show me the "lil Jap 600" that makes 107 ft-lbs of torque at 5k
rpm....
Just sayin' ......
