look at Mexico as 'their country', and the fact that they live in
America as 'an inconvenience, done for financial reasons'. Many
blacks ( again, not 'all', just 'many' ) choose to consider themselves
African First ( although they have never been there, nor were their
parents or grand-parents or great-grand-parents ), and choose to take
more pride in THAT, than in being AMERICAN.

Too true. Many Hispanics view assimilation as giving up their culture and history, however, until they do assimilate, they will be viewed and treated as second class, um, citizens, regardless of their legal status. What's worse, their children grow up watching how their parents are treated, becoming angry, bitter, and hostile, hence the gangs, drugs, and radicals.

It's unfortunate that telling newcomers to educate themselves on English, our laws, and our customs is viewed as 'racist' by so many people. We've become so paranoid about the whole issue of 'racism' that nobody wants to say or do anything that may draw the label of 'racist.'

Ironically, English is studied all over the world. It's not that these folks want to come here. English is the language of money and success, used internationally in commerce. Instead of worrying about culture or racism, folks in India, Philippines, Japan, and China know that they must be able to communicate with those who have money in order to earn money. Even schools in Mexico City teach English.

Too many Hispanics (and other minorities) here fail to see this. They've been brainwashed by their peers and liberals to believe anything that they shouldn't have to educate themselves or behave any specific way in order to live the American dream. Meanwhile, they rot away in fields, car washes, Home Depots, and prisons, wondering when some miracle is going to take place.

None of this is helped by those knuckleheads who blame "Mexicans" for everything, or just naturally assume anybody with a Hispanic name is an illegal alien from Mexico. While I agree that immigration should be controlled, I can't blame anybody for coming here for whatever reason. If there's any blame to be assigned, it goes to those who whine about illegal immigration, then invite them here when they hire illegal aliens to mow their lawns, wash their cars, deliver newspapers, and so on, just so their darling angel children don't have to get off their ever-expanding asses and put down the Playstation for an hour or two. I don't care how many agents are on the border, how high the wall is, or how many illegals get thrown out, if we keep inviting them here, they'll keep coming.

As long as ANY race or culture takes that view, they will be
what they choose to be -NOT AMERICANS. History has proved this. As
long as they CHOOSE to differentiate themselves from other Americans
by their backgrounds, they will remain differentiated.

It seems the States are intent on just repeating the same mistakes
they have made over their entire history; quick to resort to racial
hatred, which pushes people to the margins of society instead of
bringing them in, then reaping the social ills that result from the
ghettoization which they will have to live with for another hundred
years. As if the mistakes made in the case of blacks wasn't proof
enough of how counter-productive that is in the long run.

Read your history deeper. Look at the history of the Irish,
German, Italian, etc immigrants when they first arrived here. They
were thought of, and treated, as 'below the blacks', less than dirt.
Even today, many ( not all, just many ) BLACKS are highly prejudiced
against Latinos.

Yes, the blacks have a particular history of being brought
here as slaves in ships. However, the Irish, the Italians, etc, came
here in ships, too, living in squalor below decks, living in whatever
ghettos and slums they could find at the edge of the swamp ( read
about Five Points in NYC ), picking rotten food out of the garbage to
eat, and doing 'day labor' for whatever pittance they could get. They
were thought of, and treated like, slaves. Sub human.

Same goes for the Chinese who built the railroads. They had to dig cities undergrown just so they could let their hair down.

Why is it always 'the white man's fault', 'the Americans'
fault' ?

It's a combo meal of our past dickheaded behavior and our being an easy target.

There's no doubt white folks in the past have treated non-whites poorly, and I understand the desire to avoid that. The problems start when, as is human nature, people go too far. The opposite of Crazy is still Crazy. Treating minorities like children who need to be 'taken care of' does more harm than good, and it's insulting to boot. Unfortunately, too many people are making a living spreading the gospel of victimology.

America seems to get the blame for everything. A French plane crashes at a German airport, it's our fault. The economy takes a crap, it's our fault. The planet comes out of an ice age, it's our fault. That's just what happens when your the most powerful country in the world.

As for white folks getting blamed for everything, somebody decided that whopper before I was born. In school we were taught a wide array of crazy crap, such as:

Native Americans were kind and peaceful people who would never harm another soul. Then white people (me) came along and killed them all.

White Americans (me) invented slavery so they could be mean to black folks.

White people (me) get everything handed to them, while all non-whites are brutally oppressed by whites (me).

White people (me) invented war, lying, killing, and ornery behavior of all sorts.

The only ones who can fix every problem are white Americans (me).

I placed (me) in there because that's who got the blame in our books, videos, and lectures. Any 'discussion' that took place focused on how bad white people are and virtuous everybody else is. Of course, being male, I was awarded Bonus Blame Points for all that, plus being a meanie towards womenfolk.

The whole concept of "Hey, I'm 6-12 years old, how the hell did I do all this, and why the hell is it MY responsibility to fix it?" wasn't fit for exploration at the time.

I can only imagine what goes on in schools now. I know they're preaching that nonsense about global warming, as well as 'teaching' them about animal 'rights' and the 'danger' of guns. I shudder to think what will happen when these little brainwashed minions turn into voters.
