Very well said. Irony is the highest form of humor.
Many, you may consider religion to be "no better" than a superstition,
but it is different enough to be recognized as a separate entity..
Superstitions are not codified and organized, for starters.
Yes, it is much more elaborate than a simple superstition, but it is
no more provable. That is why it is called having faith. You must
accept it without proof because there is no proof in the scientific
sense of the word.
Sure enough. It's a different way of thinking, but it isn't illogical.
Once you accept some crucial assumptions faith (and religions, by proxy)
becomes a coherent system.
I see. So you think it is perfectly logical to worship a rain god, a
sun god, and a god of the winds? Do you believe that the sun god
carries the sun across the sky each day. And do you believe that the
earth was created in six days less than 10,000 years ago?
BTW - science also doesn't really have proofs. Just observations and
theories with some predictive abilities. Do you, or do you not believe
in Big Bang? (as an example)
Science admits that not all things are proven. When there is a
reasonable explanation for something it is presented as a theory, but
that is all it is without proof. IMO some theories get accepted way
to easily. The Big Bang is one of those theories. I suspect part of
the reason it has been accepted by many is because it fits in with
their religion. "Let there be light, and there was." But what was
this spec before it expanded? And how long was it around? We get
things like, "The universe is not expanding into empty space, space
itself is expanding." So what is the space expanding into? Don't
bother telling me, I've heard it all before.

Unlike religion, science does not claim to be infallible. However, some folks
take this to mean that they can dismiss any science that disagrees with their
religion.
Actually the Big Bang is more an example of how science becomes a
religion for some people. Prior to 1929 the answer to "Where did the
universe come from?" was "We don't know." or "It has always been here
and always will be. It goes on without end." Now the answer is the
Big Bang, and you better agree or you will be labled a stupid crackpot
or crank.
The whole theory is based on the Hubble redshift being a Doppler
effect caused by distant stars moving away from us. But there are
other possible explainations for the effect. If any of those other
reasons is the real cause of the Hubble effect then the Big Bang goes
away. As I pointed out before, the theory has needed a few bandages
like dark matter and dark energy to keep it alive, but that's ok,
while the same people that say that will tell you that aether theory
is a joke because it required patches to keep it alive.

There is also the 4K background radiation remnant of the BB event, which was
an important prediction made by the BB Theory. It was accidentally found in
1964 by communications satellite researchers.
Also some recent observations of gravitational lensing
apparently due to the presence of dark matter.
